Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme among housewives at selected area of Ghataprabha

The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program, launched in 2015, is a government of India initiative aimed at addressing the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and promoting the education and empowerment of girls. It's a multi-sectoral effort, spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, with the goal of ensuring girls are born, nurtured, and educated without discrimination. The program utilizes awareness campaigns, enforcement of relevant laws, and multi-sectoral action in targeted districts to achieve its objectives. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme [STP] in enhancing knowledge and awareness about beti bachao beti padhao scheme among housewives in Ghataprabh. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed, involving 50 housewives. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire before and after the STP intervention. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge post-intervention. The pre-test mean score was 15.3 (38.25%), which increased to 26.26 (65.65%) after the intervention. Paired t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant improvement (t = 4.1, p< 0.05). Chi-square analysis found There is significant association between pre-test knowledge scores of Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao scheme with only family and other demographic variables are non-significant at the level of 0.05. The findings suggest that STP is an effective educational tool for promoting awareness about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme among housewives.
