Life skill training has become a significant
component of education. Those are essential to promotes mental wellbeing and
competence in young people to face the realities in life in the society. The
Purpose of this study to determine the effectiveness life skill training on
academic performance and personality development about time management,
cleanliness, self-awareness, make healthy peer group among B.Sc. nursing first
year students. A pre-experimental one group pretest post-test research design
was adopted for the study, 60 samples from B.Sc. nursing first year students
were selected using simple random sampling technique. Pre-test was conducted by
using self-structured questionnaire followed with life skill training programme
which consists of time management, cleanliness, self-awareness, develop a
healthy peer group and stress management was taught to the students for 10
sessions thrice in a week after the last session post-test was done. The
study findings showed that the pretest and posttest on academic
performance and personality development mean score was 9.65 and 14.33 respectively with standard
deviation of 2.59 and 2.27 in
each variable. The paired `t` value was 18.025 which revealed that there was a
highly statistically significant difference between the pretest and post test on
academic performance and personality development at p<0.05.
